About Us

Bert Fowlie Family Butcher is situated in a small village called Strichen in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire nestled at the bottom of Mormond Hill. Bert Fowlie Snr. started the business in 1955 with his son Hebbie joining in 1972 after leaving school at the age of 16 to work for his father. After 10 years of working together Bert retired and Hebbie took over the running of the business with his wife Eileen. Since then daughter Donna and son Gavin joined the family business after changing careers and they are now overseeing the daily running of the business. Donna’s son Aaron has also joined the team and is learning the tools of the trade, making us a 4th generation Family Butcher something we are very proud of.

We are a destination shop with people travelling all over Aberdeenshire and further to visit our wee treasurer chest of locally sourced and produced cuts of meat. From matured steaks, roasts and the every so popular ready to cook delights there is something for everyone’s taste buds if it’s a spicy Stir Fry to your Sizzling Sausages and Burgers we are always developing our range. With an onsite bakery we freshly produce daily homemade pies, ready to heat micro meals, deserts and home bakes. We are also very proud to have won the title of Scottish Butcher Shop of the Year 3 years running from 2017, 2018 and 2019.
